About Christ Central

Christ Central Anglican Church is a Christian community in Corvallis, OR. We are rooted in the belief that the historic, Christian Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, compelling, and transformative. It is through the Gospel that our lives, families, and communities are transformed by God’s grace.

We are a collection of people from all walks and stages of life. Our stories, backgrounds, and interests are varied. So wherever you are on your spiritual journey, whether you are committed to following Jesus Christ, are mildly curious about Christianity, or searching for something more, we welcome you.

Values

We believe the Gospel is for all of life. God calls us to worship, glorify, and enjoy Him in every aspect of life. We do this through embracing, living out, and rejoicing in the Gospel.

  • Embracing the Gospel means rooting our identities in what Jesus Christ has done for us.

  • Living out the Gospel extends this truth beyond our individual lives. It affects every aspect and situation in life including our relationships, our jobs, and our communities.

  • Rejoicing in the Gospel speaks to our response. This encompasses all of our thoughts, actions, and affections. The Gospel is applicable, needed, and celebrated in every area: personally, socially, and culturally.

Beliefs

As Anglicans we see ourselves as part of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic church. With roots going back to early church, historic Anglicanism is a branch of the catholic church that was reformed in the 16th century. Specifically, we hold to the following:

  • The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be God’s Word written, containing all that is necessary for salvation.
  • The orthodox Christian creeds, namely the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed together with the Chalcedonian Definition.
  • The Thirty-nine Articles as containing foundational doctrine of the Church agreeing with God’s Word and as authoritative for Anglicans today.
  • The Anglican sacramental and liturgical heritage as an expression of the gospel, and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer as a true and authoritative standard of worship and prayer, to be translated and locally adapted for each culture.

We believe the person and work of Jesus Christ is central to all of Scripture. He is the heart of the gospel and the only hope for this world. Jesus Christ is the center of the Trinity (Matt. 28:19); the center of creation (John 1:2; Col. 1:16; Heb. 1:2); the center of redemption (Eph. 2:4-9); the center of the life of his Bride, the Church (Eph. 5:25, 32; Rev. 21:9); and the center of eternity (Rev. 5:4-14). From creation to new creation via redemption—Christ is Central.
