Welcome

Considering and visiting a church can feel daunting, overwhelming, and discouraging. Our hope is to serve you by giving you an understanding of what to expect and who we are.

 Maybe you’ve never been to church, or haven’t in a long time, and worry you won’t know what to do, how to act, or what to say… and that is ok!

Christ Central is for people just like you. People at Christ Central are from various walks of life, covering a broad range of backgrounds. Some of us are fervently committed. Some are cautiously curious. Others are somewhat skeptical. While some are celebrating unexpected healing, others long for hope, or recovery— for restoration. We make space for every part of the journey.

 Wherever you find yourself, our desire is that you would feel welcomed and comfortable at Christ Central. One of the narrative threads of the Bible centers around hospitality, and we seek to embody that. We will never make you stand up, introduce yourself, or draw attention to you in any way (but some people will probably say “hi” and introduce themselves). You are welcome to come and participate in Christ Central in a manner you feel comfortable. 

 At Sunday Worship, our service is guided by an order of worship that is easy to follow. Our “worship style” is hard to classify. We are liturgical, but informal (think liturgy in blue jeans). We like singing old songs in modern ways. We like to talk about engaging culture without being partisan. We appreciate and value children being in the service and acting like children. We also love and appreciate how others worship across the world. While we take the Gospel and Jesus seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Learn more About Our Worship.

 Christ Central is a worshiping community rooted in the belief that the historic Christian gospel is true, compelling, promises to change our lives, and anticipates the renewal of all things. We seek to embody and articulate this gospel of grace, bringing about spiritual, personal, social, and cultural renewal in Corvallis and, through it, the world. We believe that the gospel is not something that “I have and someone else needs” -- rather, it’s something that everyone needs all the time.

 Worship is the heartbeat of community at Christ Central. To get to know us better, we ask that you Give Us Six: Join us for six Sundays over the course of a couple months. In doing so, you’ll come to learn who we are, what we believe, and experience the mission to which God is calling us: Seeking the Renewal of All Things Through Jesus Christ.
