Our Story
Christ Central began in 2012 when Greg Joines was exploring church planting in the Northwest. As a Northwest native, Greg had a desire to return home to invest in the spiritual needs of the area; when he visited Corvallis, he fell in love. While Corvallis embodies the cultural characteristics of the Northwest, it is also a unique community. Corvallis celebrates many of the things that God loves and celebrates: education, community, creativity, ecology/nature and a great culinary scene! Christ Central has slowly grown as a worship community since 2013. Rather than focusing on pragmatics or methods, Christ Central has been focused on cultivating a posture of faithful presence and seeking the peace (or shalom, which means “abundant, holistic, inter-relational flourishing”) of the city (Jer. 29.7). We believe this flourishing begins in our own hearts by the work of the Gospel and the Holy Spirit, and radiates out into our families, community and the world.
In 2022, the congregation was received into the Diocese of the Rocky Mountains within the Anglican Church in North America (learn more here) to establish deeper connections and global relationships.
